How does eqobe chat work?
Eqobe chat allows users to chat online including video, voice, and text communication. It works inside a browser using Flash plugin, so no download is required on the user's computer.
To start a chat session, a user needs to go to the
chat page. He/she can enter a user name and sign in. After signing in, the user may click the 'Dial' button and enter the user name of the recipient to start the call.
Tip: if using chat on a smaller screen, set your browser to the full-screen mode.
What are the push-to-talk and headset modes?
The user making a call can select either the push-to-talk or the headset talking mode. In the headset mode, both users can talk and hear each other at the same time. In the push-to-talk mode, one of the users, the calling user, has to press the spacebar key to be heard. The receiving user does not need to press any keys to talk.
The push-to-talk mode is implemented to avoid the acoustic echo caused by the mic catching the sound from the closely located speakers (common on most laptop computers).
If push-to-talk is selected, the calling user needs to press and hold the spacebar while talking. When the spacebar key is not pressed, the user who received the call is heard. The calling user can switch from one talking mode to another while in call.
What are the system requirements?
Eqobe chat will run on almost any browser with Flash plugin installed. Here are the specific requirements:
- A computer with a camera, microphone, and speakers.
- A browser with Adobe Flash Player version 10.1 or greater installed.
- An internet connection.
Note, if using chat behind a firewall or on a computer with unti-virus software, the outgoing UDP packets must be enabled. Consult your network administrator, if you are not able to make an outgoing call.
For optimal audio quality, set the Record Volume to maximum level and uncheck the Reduce Echo checkbox in the Adobe Flash Player settings audio tab.
Is it free?
Yes, eqobe chat is absolutely free. Internet connection fees may apply.
Can I add eqobe chat to my website?
